Remy smirked as he hopped out of his car, a classic convertible with a souped up engine and strode toward Cassandra's room. He was enjoying their flirtation, and after the show the previous day, he was eager to see more, and perhaps lay his hands on, as well.
Free of any entanglements these days, he was enjoying himself, and had actually been fairly absent of company lately, but today, he hoped to change that. Dressed to the nines in a skintight, and cut-to-show-off-his-body midnight black suit, he moved like a graceful wild cat, and he smirked as he knocked at her door.
Cassandra had just finished prettying herself up when she heard the knock. She went to answer the door with a smile, the butterflies already flying around in her stomach.
"Remy, come in."
She couldn't help but look at him up and down. That man was always so stylish, no wonder he's so popular with the ladies.
Remy smirked as he reached out to stroke a hand over her face, teasing her soft skin with skilled fingers. "What do you want, chere'?" he kissed her softly, then harder, before pulling back a little.
"What do you want to do?" One hand looped around her, pulling her close against him, his long lean body pressed close, and his arousal evident against her.
She couldn't stop the soft moan escaping as he kissed her. God, where was Remy all her life?
"I want to continue this.. I'm enjoying it already." Cassandra rubbed his arousal through the fabric, the thought of what was about to happen making her wet.
As a rule, Birkhoff doesn't do jobs for Mutants. Not because he has anything against mutants. It's not that. It's more that Mutants tend to hire other mutants. Not humans. It's nothing personal he knows, it's just the way it is.
So when he got a call from Prof X to do a little something for them, he was more than a little apprehensive. Especially when he was invited to a briefing over at this fuck off mansion stuffed to the rafters with unstable teenage mutants. He'd said a big fat no to that. No way. No way was he stepping foot in that place.
So how is it that he finds himself sat in a briefing room, listening to some dude scoping out the mission they need his Ace hacking skills for?
Why is he there? Because hes an idiot that's why.
"So. I think all you need now is to meet the person who is going undercover for this operation. She should be along any minute," says the baldy guy who introduced himself as Charles.
The fire breathing mutant eyed the human with slight skepticism. Who said it'd be a good idea to bring a human into the operation? Nothing good could possibly come out of it.
Cassandra took a seat and crossed her legs, never taking his eyes off the hacker.
"I was just telling Seymour here about you two working together. I trust you'll try and get along," Charles said sternly. It'd be impossible to fool professor Xavier as he could see inside both their heads and see their doubts and discomfort.
Mutants seems to have a lot in common with spies. Often they are stunningly beautiful, full of themselves and have a nasty habit of sneaking up on you when you least expect it. Cassandra seems to be ticking all three boxes. He dislikes her on sight and he doesn't have to be a mind reader to know that she doesn't think he's the answer to her prayers either.
"It's Birkhoff," he says gruffly, correcting Charles for the second time that day. "Nobody calls me Seymour."
And we'll get along just fine as long as she doesn't go all Diva on me.
This Seymour Birkhoff looked and sounded like a smug one. Cassandra could handle him easily 'though. As long as he didn't get in her way and vice versa, things should go smoothly between them. The mission was the most important thing here after all.
"Do you want me to show him to the equipment, professor?"
If he knew that the woman stood before him was entertaining ideas that she could 'handle him', he would have gotten up and walked right out of the room. He had enough of her type back in Division.
"Yes," agrees the professor, waving a hand to indicate that they can leave."
As soon as they are out in the corridor, Birkhoff decides he should at least get to know what her mutation is. He doesn't care if that's an indelicate question. He hasn't got time for niceties, there's a job to do.
"Cassandra. You didn't explain what your specialism is. Maybe I should get some kind of heads up. You know, before you turn all blue or start melting through walls."
Cassandra stops in her tracks and turns to face her temporary colleague. Without a verbal answer she takes a piece of paper, gently blowing on it to light it on fire.
"That's what I do. Any other questions?"
She flashed him a smile before turning on her heels, leading him into a secure room where they'll be working.
He is pleased with what he sees, taking a seat and flexing his fingers before placing them on the keyboard. "Hmm not bad not bad. Impressive specs. Everything in order. Yes I think I can work with this. Let me have a look at this data then."
Birkhoff begins typing. The symbols flying across the screen faster than most people would be able to make out. He is used to analysing this kind of thing and knows what he is looking for.
"The professor pulled a few strings to get this stuff for you, so I'm glad it pleases you."
She smiles as she speaks, however, indicating that she's not teasing him this time. While Birkhoff's working his magic, she finds herself looking at him more than at the screens.
"It's looking good." Picking out the anomalies in the coding are as easy a looking at a picture of the Mona Lisa and pointing to her nose. The data is tight but he can see a few ways in and then he should be able to make the edits he needs to make for the job to work. If only the system wasn't so slow.
He slips one hand in his pocket and pulls out a multi-tool, selects the screwdriver.
"Just needs a few tweaks." He starts opening up the casing.
